Five pillars for successful weight loss

[jpshare]

Weight loss goals set? Check

Motivated? Check

Finding it easy? Hmm, not really

Turning weight loss intentions into action is not easy, and we know it.

Try focusing on these five pillars to help give your weight loss journey some direction.

1. Know your Macronutrients

No matter what eating plan you’re following, whether it’s low or moderate carb or something else entirely, make sure you know which foods have the right macronutrient ratios to fit into your plan.

2. Be aware of your food choices

It’s happened to all of us, you’re in front of the TV and the family is having snacks, then before you know it, you’ve eaten a bowl of popcorn and 4 handfuls of chips.
Be mindful whenever you eat, savour the experience, and learn to tell the difference between hunger, boredom and mindless eating.

3. Portion sizes

Most weight loss plans have carefully worked out a nutrient balance in the meals they recommend and this informs the amount of food they suggest. You may think that an extra half a chicken breast, or an extra handful of nuts won’t hurt, but eating too much, even of healthy foods, can affect the scale.

4. Water

It’s an obvious one, but it’s essential. There are thousands of tips available online to help those who struggle to drink water. Getting creative with these to help you drink enough water may just be the difference between reaching your goal or not.

5. Support

Having someone to support and motivate you on your journey can have a huge impact, especially on the days when you feel like giving up. Reach out to family, friends or colleagues to help keep you going, or join our Facebook group to get support from others having a similar experience.

If you need guidance with any of these we’re happy to help!
